Pythia and the Sphinx, come to life in Switzerland with recordings in ancient Greek

All the languages of the world come alive in our voices for some of the biggest Greek and international brands.

But there is also a language, chosen by a select few, that lives among history, fantasy or hidden among the rest, and it is none other than our own ancient Greek….!

Some time ago we recorded the texts in ancient Greek – and especially in heraldic pronunciation – for the exhibition HERO GAMES, which opened in September at the Antikenmuseum Basel und Sammlung Ludwig and continues with great success until March 2026, in Basel, Switzerland.

These are recitations of texts by Herodotus, concerning the “slightly mystical, gentle yet confident Pythia” and the “somewhat arrogant and dangerous Sphinx” (yes, these were the stage directions from Oslo Studios Basel and the Museum itself), about Pythia and the Sphinx, the two mythical figures that star in this interactive exhibition, along with many other mythological heroes we know.

The recordings were made by our philological collaborator (one of our oldest staff members and a graduate philologist herself) Alexandra, under the supervision of the Museum Council and the curator of the exhibition, doctor Anna Laschinger, who edited the texts and helped to ensure that they were presented in the correct academic way during the recordings.

And when our customers are completely satisfied, they don’t stop there: A month later Alexandra was invited and attended the special presentation ceremony in Basel, Switzerland, was honoured to take part in the games held there and was honoured for her contribution to this atmospheric exhibition that makes Greek mythology and our country known.

So when we say that we speak in every language (old and new) on the planet, we mean it!
